Today is a super sweet post about my recent tulip festival photo session with my daughter. And let me tell you, it was a total hoot!

As a photog, I’m always on the lookout for new challenges to push my creative limits. So when I heard about the local tulip fest, I jumped at the chance to snap some shots of my little munchkin amidst a sea of colorful flowers.

Now, my daughter’s used to being in front of the camera – I mean, I’ve been snapping pics of her since she was a wee babe.

But this was next level.

We were surrounded by a kaleidoscope of tulips, and I was determined to capture the perfect pose and angle.

Not putting any prior consideration into how short tulips actually are, this called for some adjustments. I got down low, twisted myself into all sorts of weird contortions, and made all sorts of goofy noises to get my daughter to crack a smile. And let me tell you, she was an absolute champ, striking pose after pose like a seasoned pro.

The colors of the tulips were out of this world, and I was like a kid in a candy store!

I was playing around with all sorts of lighting and settings to get that perfect shot. I mean, I must’ve looked like a mad scientist, tweaking knobs and buttons like my life depended on it.

But all that effort paid off, my friends because the photos turned out absolutely breathtaking. My daughter looked like a little flower fairy, and the tulips made the perfect backdrop for our impromptu tulip festival photo session.

I’m pretty sure I gave myself a hernia trying to get those shots, but it was totally worth it. I can’t wait to print ’em out and show them off to everyone I know – and maybe even some people I don’t know. Hey, I’m not above showing strangers on the street with pictures of my kid.

All in all, our tulip festival photo sesh was a roaring success. It was a great way to spend some quality time with my daughter and flex my creative muscles at the same time. Who knows what kind of craziness we’ll get up to next?
