Capturing Love and Togetherness: A Blended Family Photo Session

I’m in love! Let me tell you about this amazing blended family photo session I had the privilege to be a part of. It’s all about my longtime friend Nia and her fiancé Christian, who are taking the big step of becoming a blended family. They’ve got a total of five awesome kids, and I was so excited when Nia reached out to me after all these years!

Edgy or Soft – How About Both?

Now, Nia has always had this cool and edgy vibe – tattoos, black outfits, you name it. Me, on the other hand, I’m more into bright and light colors. But you know what? I was determined to make this photo session a perfect blend of our styles.

Nia and Christian’s story is so special. With their upcoming wedding, they’re not just joining their lives, but also their families. Our mission was to capture the very first photos of their newly united crew.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Usually, I’m all about outdoor forest shots, but for Nia, I knew we needed something different. So, we decided to go for an urban city vibe. It was a bit out of my comfort zone, but I was up for the challenge.

I knew the perfect place to start was the Kemper Center. My son had prom pictures done here and it is stunning!

Nia had some awesome ideas for the session. First, we went for a super sleek look – everyone dressed in black, rocking their Jordans and Christian Louboutin shoes. The photos are total fire! You could really feel the love, unity, and incredible style they share.

The Softer Side

But wait, there’s more! Nia also wanted to show a softer side. We had a quick outfit change and headed to the shores of Lake Michigan. The pastels and the serene lake setting created this dreamy atmosphere that perfectly captured their love.

Nia is all about energy and passion, while Christian is this really kind and caring guy. Together, they make an awesome team. And you know what’s even cooler? Their kids get along incredibly well. Seriously, it’s hard to tell who’s who – they’ve already become one big, happy family.

The Honor of Doing This Blended Family Photo Session Was All Mine

I’ve got to admit, being a part of this blended photo session was a real honor. To capture those first moments of togetherness as a family was something truly special.

Nia, Christian, and their amazing kids reminded me that love and unity can make a beautiful story, no matter where you come from.

As Nia and Christian gear up for their wedding and the next chapter of their lives, these photos will always stand as a reminder of the love that brought them all together. It’s a story of real people, real love, and the magic that happens when two families become one.
